Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?

A: I’ve always wanted to go to Greece, it’s so beautiful and right on the ocean. I love the warm weather, all of this snow is not my jam.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: In my free time I love reading, playing my Nintendo switch, walking my dog, snowboarding, coaching and playing soccer, and spending time with friends and family.

Q: What is one thing you wish your students knew about you?

A: I really love classic rock music and would love to be in a rock-n-roll band

Q: Who is your biggest influencer?

A: My biggest influencer is my little sister. With her being 13 years younger than me she influences me to always be a child at heart, to try hard in everything I do, and to never give up on my dreams.

Q: Why did you decide to start teaching?

A: I decided to start teaching because of all the teachers that influenced me. I would not be the educator I am today without the impactful teachers that paved the path for me to want to be one. I love being able to make a difference in a student's life and make them feel just as important as all my teachers did with me. I love what I do and I would not trade it away for any other job.

Mr. Nelms has been at the high school for four years, three of those years have been in the special education department. Mr. Nelms has learned a lot, and is trying his best to make the high school a safe place for all students and facilities. Mr. Nelms offered to give the students of Oxford high a first hand viewpoint into just what it's like to be an assistant principal.
